the days are beautiful, crisp fall days, sunny and cloudy by turns, with a chilly breeze and swirling leaves. i love this part of autumn, the relaxing of the stifling heat and humidity, the leaves changing colors, the way your nose gets a little cold while you walk. it's perfect strolling weather.
i've been cooking, baking, plotting and planning. the spaghetti sauce seems to be a success, though we'll only really know tonight. the muffins are a mystery. the apple pie is the next step. mmm, fall is perfect for baking - i can heat up the apartment using candles and the oven (cause our heating doesn't turn on til October 31st, i suspect).
i've also decided to try my hand at NaNoWriMo this year. i've been eyeing it with a mixture of trepidation and curiosity for several years now; i figure it'll be the perfect way to break through that motivational block that's crippling me at the moment. for those that don't know, here's the premise of it:
write 50,000 words between November 1st and 30th. that's it. i've signed up already and have my own website so you can all keep track of what i'm up to (and either cheer me on or shame me when i fall behind!) - for anyone interested, it's here. i predict November will be a hectic month...
i'm also back in the swing of things genealogy-wise. there's something inherently satisfying about all those names and generations.

Also, I thought about you when I noticed that the Pointe-Claire library runs a genealogy club. Wasn't sure if you'd be into anything like that, but I have the info if you're interested.

Date: 2008-10-06 08:39 pm (UTC)From:the genealogy clubs scare me. they're mostly seniors with lots of stories, which is nice, but they kinda give me the creeps. that, and Pointe-Claire isn't the area i'm working around (it'd be more of a Longueuil or Varennes thing, or even downtown Montreal). thanks for thinking of me though!
