Your centralization policy isn't working. You can't run a store from Toronto, much as you'd like to try. In attempting to streamline your stores across the country and turn them all into equally profitable places of business, you've taken your #1 store (2 years running) and crushed it beneath your heel. I hope you enjoy the useless, robot-like employees and their standard greeting, standard procedures, and standard attitude towards every customer. You should perhaps spend a day actually working with the public before attempting to standardize every mouvement your employees make. You are choking your own business with useless policy and a distinctly insulting attitude towards your employees.
The customers will go wherever there are books. And while you certainly have the product, what you lack is efficiency, personality, and a positive working environment. Treating all your employees as potential thieves is a bad policy, anyone could tell you that. So is ensuring that the managers can treat them however they like, with little to no regard for the fact that they are, in truth, human beings entitled to respect. This fact seems to have eluded you.
no love,
Me

This service announcement has been brought to you by 2 full days of negativity and general unpleasantness, for no other reason than the fact that i feel i have been demoted (which is, in fact, not very far from the truth) in a ridiculous and unnecessary fashion. Are they actively TRYING to get me to quit? sometimes i wonder.
