i'm cheating
Oct. 27th, 2005 03:08 pmstayed home from work. cancelled my doctor's appointment. to be fair, i'm legitimally not feeling well... but, had i actually slept last night, i would normally have gone in to work. instead, i sit here, blowing off... well, everything, and giggling to myself.
Dresden Dolls put on a great concert. high-energy, playful, dramatic, and just generally entertaining. bowler hat, longest and wickedest drum solo ever, pounding at a keyboard and still producing sweet music, and general insanity. i am very pleased.
Equally pleasing was the (real) opening act (let's not talk about the pre-opening act, it was atrocious), the amazing and wonderful DeVotchka. not enough polka, indeed. the tuba was covered in little pink (or was it orange?) lights, everyone could play at LEAST two instruments REALLY, REALLY well, and the violin/fiddle guy was so good i wanted to cry. the old-fashioned microphone was a lovely touch. must definately pick up those CDs.
