the full moon makes the road all bumpy!

strange day. lots of little ups and downs. my Anthro class is actually being taught by the right teacher this time! *does happy dance* except that the teacher isn't in this week, so the student-teacher let us out after 15 mins and told us to come back next week instead of Thursday. while this means i don't have to be in til 6pm on Thursday, it also meant my 3 hour break became 6 and a half hours. i went shopping, bought much little stuff, much needed stuff. spent quite a while in HMV, was very proud of my purchases, but now i'm sorely disappointed. the 2 cds i picked up aren't very good, and what i THOUGHT was the first of the X episodes turned out to be the X movie *shudder*, which i only noticed after i unwrapped it, of course, so i can't even return it. my own stupidity. *sigh*

my classes are actually challenging. *gasp* i'd forgotten what those felt like ~ subjects tantalizingly out of my sphere of immediate knowledge. the Anthro centers on the differences between different social organizations within cultures ranging from bands to states. i'd forgotten why i enjoyed anthropology, oh so long ago, when i was young and innocent... and, a first, my History tied into Anthro. i nearly fell out of my chair when the guest lecturer started talking about stadialism (the hierarchy of certain cultures above others based on an evolutionary model) and its influence on the Famine. i was very, very impressed. now if only this guy was the teacher for the full 6 weeks, i'd be happy. i also, for the first time in quite a while, have a significant-sized paper to write. i have to decide on a topic soon ~ it's due in a month. condensed classes = little time to write papers... i'm going to be very busy for the next few months, and i think i'm going to enjoy it, no matter how much i start complaining.
