day 3 of the Evil Migraine Headache. ach.
Evanescence last night was really good. Gods, but Amy Lee has energy. And she's almost as good at headbanging as Cristina Scabbia (though not quite). They played a good set list, even with a song or two from their old album, plus a cover (what the hell WAS it?) that no one could remember the name of but everyone knew. I especially loved Breathe No More and Bring Me to Life.
it all started out a bit shaky. She didn't look like she was used to a place that big; her voice wasn't projecting right, but everything fell into place by the second or third song. unfortunately, they opened with Going Under, which I love, so i was a bit disappointed with that. *shrug*
i was mostly detached myself, which didn't help. i guess i just don't like the large venues that much. admittedly, it's been about 6 or 7 years since i last went to a concert at the Molson -- excuse me, BELL centre -- but it just seemed to impersonal, too big, too empty. there was no connection to the performers, no real atmosphere. by the end, it was alright, but the beginning really didn't do much. or maybe it's just that the last two shows i've seen have been Lacuna Coil, and they have AMAZING stage presence.
