on the hunt

anyone in Mtl know of any good coffee shops? ideally something with good atmosphere where i can do some writing, within walking distance of a metro (downtown core would be best), and who don't blast their music so loud that you get a migraine within half an hour of sitting there? they are apparently quite elusive (or, more likely, on side streets i don't usually venture down).
