the lightening of material things

the cleaning urge has bitten me, hard. i've woken up to just how cluttered my apartment is, and it's making me crazy. maybe it's because i'm already starting to work my brain through the Tetris-like experience that is moving, but everywhere i look are things that we shouldn't have bought, that are now obsolete, or that just plain need to go. it's my un-cluttering stage... which will be followed quite closely by a "i need new stuff!" stage, i'm sure. cause that's just how i am. =)

today's cleanup was the plants, and oh my, did they need it. admitedly my living room feels a little empty without the solid wall of greenery by the window, but it felt good to throw out plants that had been getting increasingly large, bulky and dishevelled beyond saving. so i said a regretful goodbye to my giant plants and propagated them into nice, manageable cuttings. one day, when i have light enough to actually grow plants somewhere other than in the windowsill, i'll get a few small trees. for now, trees do not belong on a windowsill.

my next few projects: the art closet (oh gods, do i have to??) and the stack of binders in my living room (writing stuff, research material, etc - much of it duplicated multiple times). hurray for lightening up the material load.
