labyrinthine object
Jan. 24th, 2007 11:05 pmfirst, see Pan's Labyrinth. it's horribly, wonderfully captivating. (preview can be found here)
(ps: the preview is rated R, but somehow, the cinema is showing it as a PG13 movie. something here is not right)
now, once you've seen the movie, read The Orphan's Tales: In the Night Garden. if you enjoyed the movie, this book will blow you away. i kept expecting the movie to go that one step further, to generate another story within the story, to pull back the veil on that Other world. this book definately does, and in a writing style that i envy, worship, and swoon over. see excerpts here.
