lots of ranting and raving seems to be going on, huge threads arguing whether a band should strive to collect a fan base or if that makes them too "mainstream", thereby losing their original fanbase. it seems fairly pointless to me; then again, i've never gotten so deeply attached to a band that i've wanted to take down newbies for listening to them. *puzzled glance* so Lacuna Coil is getting air time on MTV. so little kindergawths are picking up on them and going "wow, they sound just like Evanescence!". there's no way to control what others will say or think of you. unless the band starts to change their music to cater to the masses, i don't see a problem. and even if they do, like Evanescence seems to have done, it's their choice, and their career.
on a completely different note, THIS may have something to do with my completely brainless state. i love the lion trying to eat the giraffe...
