quiet evening.

had a late supper with SG (tasty brownies!), played much mahjong (i feel very zen now), and was mildly productive (2 books down, a dozen left to go...). got your message, fordcov, but erased it, thinking i had soulcypher's cell number, but apparently i wrote it down wrong... got some sleepy-sounding French guy who was very, very confused... =( not meant to be, i guess. i was gonna watch some Firefly, but now it's nearly 2am, and i need all the sleep i can grab. me no sleepy good lately...

ok, i lied. i'm not going to bed. *sticks out tongue*

i am in full-blown scholar mode. i've never felt so curious, drawn to knowledge that is actually within my reach. maybe it's because i've got two classes, and both of them are fascinating. maybe it's because i'm finally coming into my own, being the scholar i've always known is buried deep in me but whom i've shoved under endless fantasy rather than history. or maybe it's because i'm having migraines again and can do very little about any of my curiousity. *sigh*

i'm choosing to write the paper rather than the midterm in my Classics class. intelligent research rather than regurgitation. maybe i'll actually *gasp* learn something in the process. gods forbid. (*lol* that's appropriate, too). i want to make a career out of this. i want to research, to write, to think. i want to be more knowledgeable than i am. i want to be able to dazzle others with the details of why Caesar decided to conquer the Gauls, and why Romans had pools in the middle of their living rooms. i like being able to tell people how they made fish sauce, or which deities presided over what.

these tidbits fascinate me. yes, i'm a nerd. i'm boring. but gods help me, i love it. =)
