I did the same thing recently while converting old public posts to friends-only posts. I've has an LJ since 2001, but I used to keep a journal on my personal website and those date back to 1999 (that personal site is long gone, but I kept a copy on my harddrive).
I've come to similar conclusions (except I don't have bad luck with my neighbours *wink*)...
Actually, I find myself more concerned with what I say than I used to. I used to get up on my soapbox without hesitation because, dammit! it was my site and I'd post what I wanted to! But I've grown. I've learned I can't say what I think much anymore. It is a different internet. So ya. my posts have also become more stupid and less funny.
On an interesting side note, I've noticed that others' (others here is a very general term) posts these days seem to be more along the lines of the kinds of things I talked about 5-6 years ago. I wonder why...
